Woodwork club is a small club of 3 - 4 children (small numbers due to health and safety) who will be learning basic carpentry skills in a safe environment.
The children will be taught how to use and store tools in a safe way; to understand the dangers and also the importance of being sensible when using them.
Some of the tools and equipment they will learn to use are: Saws, Hammers, rulers, screwdrivers, drills, clamps, paint, workbenches, screws and nails, sandpaper and wood glue.
The children have made things for the school grounds. So far they have made: a bird feeder and a nesting box, which have been placed for the birds to enjoy; a selection of different size planters to grow herbs and plants in as well as some planters in the shape of a train, which you can see in the quiet area.
They are also given the opportunity to make something to take home, such as: nesting boxes, and smaller planters in the shape of ducks, dogs and flowerpot men. Currently they are making Christmas trees to take home, including one to take to All Saints Parish Church for their Christmas Tree Festival.
