Music

Charanga

In our music lessons we are excited about using a resource called Charanga for music tuition. This is a modern, interactive way for KS1 and KS2 to access the curriculum. Throughout their learning children will learn about Pulse, Rhythm, Pitch, Tempo, Dynamics, Timbre, Texture and Structure. Children are encouraged to listen and appraise, to enjoy various musical activities including composition and performing.

We are currently providing specialist music tuition through the Whole Class Instrumental Tuition programme in partnership with Leicestershire Local Authority.  Weekly, whole class tuition is provided as follows:

Year 3 - Vocal/Singing tuition

Year 4 - Djembe Drumming

Year 5 & 6 (Half a year each) - Mixed Strings

This term, Handbell club is already underway for Year 6 pupils who have expressed an interest.

The KS2 Choir take part in the very popular 'Young Voices' concerts, hosted in Birmingham.

Mrs Priestly and Mr Holdgate visit school in order to teach individual piano and small group brass lessons each week.  Please contact the school office if your child expresses an interest in instrumental tuition.
