"Together in God's grace, may we give our children the roots to grow and the wings to fly"

Enabling children to flourish and succeed

Lego Technology Club

In the Lego Technology Club children will learn how to program the EV3, NXT and RCX robots to work traffic lights, barriers and fairground rides. They will also learn about different types of sensors and how these can be used in their programming.

Children also get to use Lego kits that they can run by solar power, water, wind or alternatively by generating their own energy.

We have invested in the Lego WeDo Construction Kits so that we can open the club to younger children. This year we have been building racing cars with some of our Year 3 children. Two teams have designed and built racing cars then tested there speed by racing them against each other. They have tested their cars by changing the size of the wheels and racing them on different floor coverings to see what difference this makes to the speed of their vehicles.

We have also made stop animation movies. The children enjoyed building their own sets out of lego bricks; then filming scenes with the ipads, using the Aardman stop animation app. They then transferred their animation into the imovie app, where they were able to add sound effects and voice overs.
