School Open Tomorrow

The following email has been sent to all parents via email. If you have not recieved, please check your Arbor account and your contact details.

Dear parents and carers,

I hope that you and your families have had a safe and happy Christmas holiday.

I am sure that you will have been listening to the news and heard about the ongoing debate over school closures. I am writing to let you know what steps we have been taking at C of E to ensure that returning to school tomorrow is as safe for pupils and staff as it can be, given the unfolding situation with increases in transmission and rising rates of hospital admissions. I am happy to report that, up until the end of last term, there were NO cases of transmission within the staff and pupils of the school.

Loughborough C of E School will open fully tomorrow for the continued education of all children. I am confident that following further changes to our risk assessment and operating procedures (see below), that we can do so safely, but of course, will keep this under ongoing review.

The changes that we need to make to open safely tomorrow are as follows:

1) Breakfast Club and After-School Club will be closed for the next two weeks with immediate effect. This is because both involve mixing of children across bubbles and deploying staff across bubbles. You will not be charged if you made a booking for either of these two groups, and we will either refund you or carry over any payments you have already made. If your child was due to attend either club TOMORROW, and due to the limited notice period I have been able to give, you are unable to make alternative arrangements please contact me immediately on

2) SCHOOL WILL CLOSE ON FRIDAY AT 1PM FOR ALL CHILDREN, who will need to be collected at this time. This is so that we can provide the required release time for teachers on Friday afternoons and further reduce the need for staff to move across bubbles, as is our usual practice. Children of key workers, and some vulnerable children (those with a social worker involvement) will be offered a place in school WITHIN THEIR BUBBLE, with supervision provided by their own bubble support staff (until 3.20pm only).

3) Our intervention and SEND support timetables will be scaled back, to those children with an EHCP in place, or to whom we prioritise with a high level of additional needs. Again, this is to protect staff who would have to cross bubbles to deliver this intervention to your child.

4) After school sports clubs will be suspended, as Mr Davies will not be able to provide these clubs without crossing bubbles. If your child was booked onto a club we will carry this place over to when we re-start clubs.

All of the above will be reviewed by Friday 15th January and you will be notified of any changes to the above on that day.

Finally, we want to assure you that the education of your children remains our highest priority. We are working hard to remain open under difficult circumstances, and would ask for your support and consideration during this time. We may need to make further changes to our daily plans, due to operational decisions about staffing and supervision. Please bear with us.
Yours faithfully,

Janine Stillwell
