As part of our Literacy work on persuasive arguments, Year 6 took a part in a Dragons’ Den competition which was held at Pall-Ex Logistics in Ellistown. The task was simple – children had to work in pairs and prepare a 5 minute pitch which would promote and persuade people to travel to school in a more active way, such as walking, cycling or scooting. The children spent 2 weeks planning, researching, designing and rehearsing their pitches and then the winning pair from Year 6 – Avi Manon and Thomas Wilkinson - was chosen to represent the school on Wednesday 20th February. The children, along with three other schools, performed their fantastic pitch for a very scary team of four “dragons”, and…….won the competition! The “dragons” said that they loved the children’s ideas and the theatrical way in which they demonstrated these! Their amazing prize was a kindle each (!) and £500 for the school! What a successful day - look out for these future entrepreneurs!
Well done Thomas and Avi – they represented the school brilliantly and their win was very well-deserved.
Well done also to the rest of Year 6 as they all worked really hard and put together fantastic pitches - I would have been extremely proud to have taken any of them to represent our school.
