Woodwork club is new for this year. It is a small club of 4 children (small numbers due to health and safety) who will be learning basic carpentry skills in a safe environment.
The children will be taught how to use and store tools in a safe way; to understand the dangers and also the importance of being sensible when using them.
Some of the tools and equipment they will learn to use are: Saws, Hammers, rulers, screwdrivers, drills, clamps, paint, workbenches, screws and nails, sandpaper and wood glue.
They are making things for the school grounds. So far they have made a bird feeder and a nesting box, which have been placed for the birds to enjoy. They are currently making different size planters to grow herbs and plants in.
They will also be given the opportunity to make something to take home.
