BBC Weather visit 2017

On Wednesday 1st February year 4 were very lucky to spend the morning with two members of the BBC weather team, weather forecaster Sara Blizzard and technician Ray Smithson.

Sara started the morning by telling the children a little bit about herself and explained what the job of a weather forecaster involves and afterwards the children were given the opportunity to present as well as direct the weather themselves.

Ray showed the children how the green screen and blue screen worked and explained that the presenters can't wear these colours because they won't show up on the screen. He also explained that this was how they filmed Harry Potter's invisibility cloak and how Superman flies on screen.

This has reinforced the learning of these children who have been learning about meteorology this term in their computing lessons.
